For the most part tailgate pads are all pretty much the same and have been for years, with minor changes, but for the most part unchanged. Why is this? If it's not broke then why change it? Well, for one thing, manufacturers are adding more functionality to the tailgate and that's probably not going to change. For example, the GMC Sierra folds down to reveal a step and speakers. Some tailgates even have doors in them and trucks like the Cybertruck have ramps available that hook to the inside of the tailgate. None of these trucks will be able to use the current tailgate pads on the market because they all use straps that wrap under the tailgate rendering the tailgate features useless unless you remove the pad, which is a pain as we all know. So what do we do? What comes next for the tailgate pad? That may be where the Tribe tailgate pad can help. It uses powerful magnets instead of straps to hold it in place. The main benefit is that it literally takes seconds to add or remove, making it much more practical for all tailgates, but specifically, for future tailgate designs.
